For 3 years during World War 2, Singapore was ruled by the Japanese but returned to British control in 1945 and finally gained its independence 1965.
It is now the 5th most visited country in the world and the 2nd most visited in Asia-Pacific. It boasts pristine beaches, exciting attractions and tropical landscapes, coupled with a super-stylish and modern city offering world class cuisine, hotels and shopping.
